Vega Primary School

The primary school education system in Vega Schools is established on the basis of «Teacher and Learner Centered Classroom Teaching».

  • In 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades, students study Life Science, Turkish, Mathematics and Science lessons together with their homeroom teachers.
  • In the 4th grades, within the scope of the "Middle School Orientation Program", apart from the homeroom teachers, teachers of the branches of "Turkish, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies" also attend classes at scheduled times. It is aimed for our students to make it easier for them to adapt to the logic, reasoning and skills-based secondary school program and to get used to teaching lessons with their branch teachers.
  • "Metropolitan - Vega School Readiness Test" is applied to students who are candidates for the first grade in Vega Schools.

Our school counselors evaluate students' readiness to start primary school in terms of various skills (matching, numbers, vocabulary, compliance with rules, general knowledge, etc.).

The appropriateness of the student's education at primary school level is determined and directed according to the test results in the light of scientific data.

All students enrolled in the first grade of Vega Primary School are invited to our school by a commission consisting of a counselor, homeroom teacher and English teacher at the end of August.

If we have enough literate students and they are approved by the commission, a separate class is created. The level of literate and illiterate students is aimed to be equalized by December.

Starting from the beginning of September, our students are offered the "Orientation and Adaptation Program" supported by physical and technological activities with game content.

  • Starting from the 1st grade, "Vertical Expansion Program" is applied in Vega Primary Schools.

Vertical Extension Program is the completion of the related course's gains with the appropriate ones from the next grade.

With the Vertical Expansion Program, our goal is to ensure that our students have prior knowledge of the issues they will see in the upcoming years and to move them to higher levels academically.

The Vertical Extension Program is planned and implemented in Turkish and Mathematics lessons at all grade levels of the primary school.

  • "Constructivist Learning Theory" based on student and student's perceptual preferences is applied in Vega Schools.

In this direction, our school structures its teaching planning by taking into account the differences of students in learning.

Each individual has a unique learning style. Learning styles are the use of different and unique ways while preparing, learning and remembering new and difficult information. Everyone uses all styles throughout their lives, but prefers one, more than the others.

In Vega Primary Schools, "Learning Styles Inventory" is applied to all students in the context of "Constructivist Learning Theory" by the "Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department" starting from the 2nd grade, and as a result, our students' 'Learning Styles' are determined.

Our students are grouped as "Visual, Auditory, Tactile - Kinesthetic Learning Style" according to their learning style.

Students, parents and teachers are informed about studying environments suitable for the student's learning style. In our schools, suitable working environments are designed by considering the differences and a more efficient learning process is created.

Foreign Language Education in Primary School (English and German)

Vega Schools aim to enable students to "acquire" the language rather than "learn" the language in foreign language education. In Vega Schools, language is acquired by students not by memorizing many grammar rules that they will forget after a while, but by developing a "feeling" of what is true without being aware of these rules. Our main goal in foreign language education is to equally provide our students with four language skills (reading - writing - listening comprehension - speaking), to enable them to express themselves in this language comfortably and confidently in written and verbal ways.

Our courses are planned on the basis of "Theme Based" and "Communicative Approach" Methods and textbooks suitable for these methods are used. With each theme, it is aimed to provide our students with the integrity of skills that will process the relevant theme in its own way by examining the similarities and differences in the environment in which the student lives. With this awareness, the pedagogical approaches that the course materials used in Vega Schools are based on are 21st century skills.

  • Creativity
  • Critical thinking
  • Problem solving
  • Cooperation and communication

In line with the achievements we aim, our students finish the A1 Language Level at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades, according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) standards, and our 4th grade students continue their studies at A2 Language Level.

Technology is also used in the most effective way to reinforce language learning. Our Foreign Language education program has been enriched with various online programs that will support the language development of our students at all grade levels in primary school. Our online programs are integrated into our curriculum and implemented under two main headings as "ESL (English As a Second Language) Programs" and "Digital Libraries".

Our English teaching program is also intended to take the tests of the University of Cambridge, English Language Assessment-YLE- "Starters", "Movers","Flyers", which are internationally valid for our primary students. These exams are used to objectively track student language development. The student is also given an opportunity to measure not only foreign language proficiency among students in the school, but also the foreign language proficiency among his peers in other countries.

With our Telescope lessons in the primary school level; 1, 2, 3, and 4, it is intended to acquire academic and social gains established in accordance with the cognitive development of our students in both native and foreign language interactive learning environments. All lessons, activities and events integrated into the program in line with the targeted earnings are prepared with the full cooperation of the classroom teacher and the English teacher. Students complete their acquisition of both languages while having fun, and in this way, they learn the same targeted gains in English and their native language in the same environment through listening, seeing, experiencing, and expressing, naturally as if they had acquired their mother tongue.

  • The second foreign language of our school, "German", is an education at level A2 in all primary classes.

Education of Technology in Primary School

Our school has a computer lab and a robotic classroom. Hardware and software updates are performed continuously in the computer lab. The information technology and software lesson aim to educate future-ready individuals by encouraging our children to improve the ability to use technology, enable them to use knowledge and skills in other courses, and monitor technology.

In Vega schools, we aim to develop and increase our students' skills in Coding, Robotics, Design, Gaming and Digital World with our information technology and software courses in the Preschool, Primary, Secondary and Anatolian High School levels.

Education of Plastic Arts in Primary School

All our students who study in Vega schools can express themselves in the art field. They learn via exploring, using well-equipped workshops, under the guidance of expert teachers taking them to the next advanced level.

Every year, our students learn and internalize at least two artists and the art movement. There are a number of workshops that will guide them through their talents discovery. It is essential for students to become familiar with different materials and to produce new products with these materials. Our workshops are carried out by preparing vertically expanded programs. Each year, the previous year's subject content is processed according to our students' levels.

Our students actively participate in all social activities and competitions, both in and out of school. They graduate as individuals who have undergone basic art education and have obtained artistic language, a universal language with a well-established esthetic understanding. They celebrate our holidays with stage design and decoration in our school, while participating in themed exhibitions for the creation of exhibition culture and insights. Vega Schools students are individuals who value art and artists and have exhibitions and museum-awareness. Each student with his parents who wants to express himself through art, opens his own personal exhibitions of his own works.

We, the schools of Vega, want to make sure that our land does not become obsolate and live with art in the footsteps of the great leader Ataturk, who has discovered the meaning of art and artist, because a nation without art means that one of the veins of life is severed.

Education of Music in Primary School

Goals and objectives are the most important elements in music class. To this end, we provide our students with intellectual information about Turkish and world music, to develop a good music listener and to give our students the ability to make a difference in society, regardless of the professional group's interests, to give our students an example of their musical culture.

Instrument training, which is an integral part of musical equipment and ear training in lectures; it is given for our students to gain the ability to play an instrument and to distinguish between what part of society they are in.

In this sense, Orff and Rhythm training is given in the pre-school period, Basic Note Knowledge and Rhythm in the 1st grade, Melodica in the 2nd and 3rd grades, Violin, Piano and Guitar in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grades.

We also, perform beautiful concerts with our school choir and school orchestra at our national holidays and other events with the works we have done throughout the year. We spend great time listening to a solo instrument performance of one of our students in the school every month.
